HOME ︎ ABOUT ︎ WORK

Born 1992 in Falköping, Sweden
Lives and works in Gothenburg, Sweden

Terese Molin is a weaving artist with a special interest in the woven image and the perception of colour within the weave. She is currently studying the MFA programme in Craft, Textile art at HDK-Valand (Gothenburg, Sweden).

I work with weaving, usually with plain structures in strong correspondence to colour and image.

The woven images contain a spectrum, they are either tranquil or filled with suspense. The colour is central, either warm and confident leading towards reliance, or agitative. I view the work as a resistance against the destructive. Whilst weaving the motifs, I feel the presence of something I can fully trust. I’m executing a longing for something constructively. It is a sort of get-away, from raw existence in the real world, but at the same time a channel to another truth.

The weaving allows me to be naive and vulnerable, it offers stability and a self-evident structure that anchors me in my making ambitions in a way that no other technique or material has. To preserve inner and outer experiences (memories, dreams, observations) in several endeavors, I literally weave myself forward. For me weaving is to chronologically form an image from the bottom up. It is not possible to start at another end or work fragmentarily. Once the first weft is placed, I feel there is no turning back. All in all, the weaving is progressive.
